Pedro’s New England Mountain Bike Festival Returns to Berkshires
New Venue, Same Trails, for August Event in Lanesboro

LANESBORO, Mass. (June 1, 2003) – The Pedro’s New England Mountain Bike
Festival will celebrate its ninth year with a new venue in the
Berkshires.America’s largest mountain bike festival, this year’s event will be held
Aug. 8-10 at the Brodie Mountain Cross Country Ski Area, within a mile
of the venue used in recent years.

The new venue will afford beginners quicker access to the easier trails,
while still offering access to those trails used – and groomed – by
years of festival use. The new site, located just off Route 7, is easier
to find for motorists and more secluded from Lanesboro residents.

“The town of Lanesboro has been a splendid host to the festival,” said
Bruce Fina, founder of the festival. “We could see the growth in the
festival and realized we didn’t want to overflow our boundaries. When
you’re bringing 3,000 people to a slumber party, it’s the least you can
do.”

“We kept the festival on high ground,” said Paul Salvucci, operations
director. “We still have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains,
the same great trails, and an easier to find entrance for folks coming
to the festival.”

The Brodie Mountain Cross Country Ski Area will also afford continued
access to the Jiminy Peak Ski Area, the Pittsfield State Forest, and all
the trails previously used.

“Most people will like to learn the hot showers will be closer to the
main camping areas, too,” added Fina.

The Pedro’s New England Mountain Bike Festival is a three-day
extravaganza that offers group rides for off-road cyclists of all
levels, camping, live music, a huge tech area, demo equipment, and
family oriented activities.

“Of course we will continue to put emphasis on the kids,” added
Salvucci, noting each year the festival has added more and more
activities for young riders. The bouncing castle will return along with
the mountain bike drive in theater and the slip-and-slide. “We’re
working hard to create an environment that allows entire families to
enjoy three days of bikes and the Berkshires.”

The Ninth Annual Pedro’s Mountain Bike Festival will be held Aug. 8-10
at the Brodie Mountain Cross Country Ski Area on Route 7 in Lanesboro,
Mass. For more information visit www.pedrosfest.com, call the Pedrosfest
