Hi Guys and Gals,

Was wondering where people are parking lately, to ride "Nam". I see in previous posts that the athletic club and College Rock parking area were mentioned as good places. Having drinks and a bite to eat at the club afterwards isn't a problem, but do they also charge to park? Has there been any problems lately. We don't want to add to any problems.

Thanks

I've been parking at the bank at the corner of the 4-way lighted intersection right down the street from that restaurant that people park at. Its a short bike ride up the street to south entrance to Vietnam.

Update:
Ok, get off 495 onto route 85 south. Make a left at the first light (Wendy's intersection). Go through one light (Target). At the next light, there is a bank on the coner of the intersection. The bank has a green sign. I've never had problems parking there after hours.

Head north from that intersection (you can see 495 in that direction). 1/2 mile up the road is an access road on your left up to the power lines. It turns into a fireroad. Follow that to the next ridge over and you'll be at the rock garden/playground. Have fun.

Map attached.

If you don't mind a little extra pedalling, you can park at the lake on Purchase street.

Off 495, take 85 south to the first intersection, and take a right. A mile or so down the road, you'll see the lake on the right. The trail leaves from the back of the lot, along the right side of the lake. It hooks up with the power lines on the opposite side of 495 from 'Nam. The downhill on the power lines that takes you back to Rt 85 at the intersection with 495 is pretty cool.

I intend to explore in the other direction on the lines someday. It looks promising.

I was there last weekend for the first time, and ran into the same problem. I just ended up parking at the office park adjacent to the south entrance to Vietnam.

Judging from the other posts on the matter, that may not have been a good idea. Has anyone been towed?

The office park with the Sherman Williams paint store? I used to park there until I hear rumours that people had been towed. I never confirmed that this was true. Does anyone here know if people were towed from the stores on Rte 85?

Maybe NEMBA should build a parking lot... that's what our chapter had to do at Holyoke Range (aka Bachelor St).
