GW and I are headed to the efta race at Bradbury mountain on June 1st. We're bringing along some trials riders who are going to compete. I'll be suffering doing the x-c thing. Gungy doesn't know that I'll be riding his Ti bike yet. Has anyone ridden there? What are the trails like? What is an efta race like? (I've only done Norba)
Thanks.

I have not done a NORBA event but the EFTA events I have done are fun, grass roots type racing. EFTA is a non-profit sanctioning body, the only restrictions they impose on promoters is that the profits must go back into the community, the promoters pick the charity. I enjoy the EFTA events, ride hard, try new places and donate a little money to a good cause, kinda like a fun ride with an added challenge, speed! Or the attempt at maintaining momuntum.
The first part of Bradbury is fairly flat rolling type singletrack, sections of roots and your typical terrain for the east, with the benefit of some great boardwalks.
The course loops back to the start/finish and then the climbing begins. Long gradual climb to the top of the mountain and the very steep descent with a couple of short climbs back to the pick-a-nic area and the finish for a total of ten miles, if you're a novice. Sports and experts do two laps I believe, maybe experts do three, not sure.
It is a fun event but be sure to check out the downhill before you ride it, some of it is very "interesting". Although better riders than I have no problem with it.
I have raced here a few times and although I don't finish well, have always enjoied the ride.
The trials folks are amazing, Peter and Craig do an excellent job of setting up and running the events. Your fortunate to know some billy goats! I wish there was a way to better promote what they do, I am always in awe of their abilities, and it is quite a crowd pleaser.
Hope that helps.
See you at the races!

Thanks man.
Three laps. Wow. Yeah I heard efta races are much longer. I hope I'm up for it.
And if I'm right, experts get an early start...9:30 or something. That's pretty cool. It will probably take me all day to finish. My goal is to beat all racers who DNF. We'll see.

Novices starting later than the experts? This sounds like a race for me.
Can anyone comment on the camping at Bear Brook?

Are you two jokers still coming to Maine this weekend? I may drive up to Bradbury, oh... not to race, but to huck lemons and empty beer cans at you.
BTW: Trek/Volkswagon Demo Tour will be at Bradbury on 5/31 and at Bear Brook on 6/1.

Todd,
I'm not racing. I'll gladly huck lemons and drink beer with you. You should come on up.
