I hit some nasty trail etiquette today! went riding at the fells with 2 friends (?) one being my roomate!! I set up the ride, meeting time, etc. we hit the fells and it seemed that these 2 guys didnt get that females (me at 110lbs) are usually not as strong in the legs and they left me in the dust, didnt stop at any crossroads and lost me completely. I finished the loop by myself, very pissed off, especially at my roomate who was the first to take off and does NOTHING for himself regarding his bike. today was his first ride of the season..i changed his tires, lubed his chain (he has no tools, gear, anything) and he couldnt wait for his friend at the crossroads? Is it that testosterone thing that happens with 2 guys on the trail?? do they have to race to the finish leaving their friends behind to get lost?? i dont get it!! never endountered that on a group ride before. Just plain rude!! Found them later back at the car. Their excuse was that they turned around and looked for me for 45minutes. so i should be grateful?? they should have stopped at the crossroads and waited, then they wouldnt have to turn around and look. It tuned out they werent even on the marked loop at the fells so as i continued the marked loop ride i never caught up with them. Annoyed, needed to vent
Did you get to try out the new bridges we built there on Saturday?
Riders come in many types, and ride at different levels. I have been on rides just like the one you describe. You are in the right place to locate ride buddies who share your desire for companionship riding, or competition riding. Take those guys off your list and consider the ride as a learning experiance.
If you are available, there is a ride and skills clinic at the Fells on Thursday at 5:30 pm. It is for beginers, which i know you are not, but you may be able to help others and meet riders who use the Fells loop for somthing other than racing.

Your room mate deserves the Richard Cranium award of the week.
I wonder if he'd notice if his tires were flat & chain rusted.
I'd like to think most men riding with a woman would be much more considerate.
I agree with Bill, a lesson learned...

Knuckleheads!
OK to be upset that one.
You know that not all guys are so inconsiderate of the gals. Splat and I enjoyed the ride at Wompi with you, and we never pulled away.
"Mostly, cuz we couldn't." ;D

I don't see the problem...look, I didn't say anything about your avatar, right? Right, I don't look for trouble and I am very accepting. Do you need me to do something about my picture? Would that make you happy?

Fisher Cat, I believe you have just set yourself up for a whole forum-full of guys clammering for you. :)

I'd like to be added to the list of guys clammering for you Fisher Cat. I'm 32, single, a good mountain biker, and I don't have the ego (or is it ability) to get that far ahead of you. You fix the bikes and I'll cook dinner?

Oh now that's just classic!
Guys foolishly sticking their neck out for a girl and she tells em she likes girls better!
That's just sad. :-\
And I go to dunkin donuts this weekend, and half the guys have ear rings, some of them wear 2. What the fruk this country coming to? :-\

psst...guys...do your research and send a PM next time. Better to be cool than fool. ;)

I'm still trying to figure out where the fat load doing a very bad wheelie on a crotch rocket fits in here ?

That's right JBP, those diet pills I've been taking have been working great as you can see the the recent pic of me above. The pounds are simply melting off and I feel great.(hmm....perhaps mroe narcisistic than great)
My advice to the ladies is this: You better grab on to this fine catch before there is nothing left of me.

Oh. There seems to be a slightly more interesting topic floating around here than pics of big fat guys on motorcycles. I can't resist sharing this true story (that happened to a friend of mine, of course...I've changed the narrative to the first person for dramatic effect only) that is just one vignette of the comic-tradegy that is his life. I certaintly don't mean to imply anything about Fisher Cat or anyone else by relaying this story. He it is:
When I was 20, I went out with my first girl "who dug other girls." Man, I thought it would be awesome. Oh, the threesome happened, but not in the way I imagined. She slept with other people for sure. But unfortunately for me, I was not involved. And even worse for my precious ego, they were both guys. Why man, why? It took me about 16 months to get over that one.
Oh yeah, trail etiquette... it is mucho important. Practice it whenever you can.
Your pal,
Big Game

I am saddened by your tale of woe, BG. I picture the following threesome (foursome?) working out for you in the near future.

I keep Big Games's avatar siloed on my computer for just this type of thing.
Karen,
If you ever change your mind about that whole girl thing send me an e-mail. I promise I won't leave you behind and I'd even be willing to change your tires, lube your chain, whatever . . . .

My offer still stands. I make dinner and you fix my bike the next time I break something...And afterward we could go pick up girls together.
