Wompy sighting

Today I was riding at Wompy with some friends and we saw a strange animal that I'd never seen before. It looked like a cross between a skunk and a cat. Black, large body (like a skunk without all the fat) and a bushy tail. It was climbing (quickly) head first down a big tree. Any ideas as to what this might be??

Are you sure it was black? And what did the tail look like?
Possible it was a fischer cat...large member of the weasel family definetly able to climb trees like that. I don't think they are black though reddish brown to dark brown.
