View Full Version : Next war?

So now it looks like Bush and Co. are setting their sights on Iran and not the troublemaking North Korea. Hmmm. You know, I wanted to believe that we went into Iraq for the right reasons, even though this administration ran the gamut of why we needed to go to war with Iraq. In the end I think what won out was the mere fact that Hussein was such a brutal dictator who probably did have to be deposed sooner or later. Fine. We did it in grand fashion. So now the question remains as to what needs to be done about North Korea. Yet, it seems as though Iran is the next target of this supposed need to prevent the proliferation of nukes to terrorist states. Gee, what a coincidence that Iran, too, has loads of oil. What am I trying to say? Well, what valuable resource does western civilization need from North Korea besides their lovely women? Hmm? They threaten to war and to use nukes against us if we enact embargoes. And Colon Powell poo-poos it as if to say those pesky North Koreans... what are we gonna do?

So Iran has oil that needs to be protected and they do not allegedly have thousands of ready-to-fire nukes and millions of ground troops ready to stomp over the DMZ so I guess since they are the easier target, they will be next? Do I sound cynical? Am I just ranting? Probably. But would you trust this man?

I guess it's a toss up. Nuclear holocaust or collapse of industialized society due to lack of adequate petroleum resources. But I have a feeling it will probably be a little of both if indeed the microbes don't gang up on us all and do us in once and for all. Our world has evolved into a very complex and frightening place in parallel to to an incredibly positive advancement of structue, culture and society. Unfortunately it has also mixed the good apples with the rotten apples, good technology for the bad, from a global perspective. But anyway I for one am still not quite sure if i'd rather "go" by quick nuclear demise or starve and freeze to death because there is no energy to create everything we need to survive. It's a dilema. Trouble is, there are too many people in control (or trying to take control) who just don't give a F#ck. And even more, like myself who just don't have the answer...

My concern is we seem to be fostering a global environment where countries might be motivated to use nukes against us, or someone else, because they want to stike us before we get them. Sort of a 'the best defense is a good offense mentality'. Who's next? Iran? N. Korea? Then who? With Iraq, we set a dangerous and ominous precedent by invading a country that did not pose a direct and iminent threat to us. All under questionable motives. Sure Sadaam is/was a prick, but he was a fifth rate dictator presiding over sixth rate country that posed little or no real threat to us. Weapons of mass destruction? Don't get me started.

After September 11th, I would have much rather seen us focus our considerable efforts on domestic issues and solutions to our problems, like shoring up our porous borders and boosting our sagging economy. This would have accompished two things: (1) We'd be stronger and safer at home -- where it counts and (2) We would show all the nutballs around the world that we do not have an interest in ruling the world, which is why they attacked us to begin with. Instead, we're off trying the rid the world of evil and creating more enemies with each passing day.

There is one big reason why our borders, especially the Mexican border, are not controlled better. Votes. Our politicians, including our very own President who felt it was a good idea to grant citizenship to one million Mexicans who are already living here illegally, that care more about their Latin-American "constituants" and the ballot box than shoring up our porous borders. I have friends who always stick up for the Mexicans: they only want to come here and live a good life, and work hard, and we all come from immigrants... blah, blah, blah.

I don't doubt that they want to work hard and all. But we cannot just carte blanche allow every non-American that wants to come here instant access without going through legal channels. What's to stop angry Arab Muslims in Al Quaeda, who do not look dissimilar to Mexicans in many regards, from crossing here via the southern border. My friends do not have an answer for that one. My sympathies for oppressed people worldwide, but we cannot be the same melting pot that we were 50 to 100 years ago. It's a different world, a different country after September 11th. Too bad if farmers and factory owners don't have enough cheap labor to go around. They'll just have to hire some of the 6% of unemployed American citizens at fair wages.

Man, I am going off the deep end today. Ok, no more coffee.

Well for one, I'm all done watching the news. I find myself depressed whenever I watch now. It's just one bad thing after another, and after your done watching it leaves me in a state of unanswered questions about the world and where it's headed. So I don't watch the news, I don't listen or get involved in world politics. I cherish each moment spent with my daughter and wife. I ride my bike as much as possible, and I await the day for the EBS buzzer to go off on the TV telling me that the ICBM's are coming and to cower in the corner of my basement with a blanket over my head. I'm convinced now that the government can't protect us, and I firmy believe that all we care about is is a stronghold in the middle east and to have total control over the oil. It's only a matter of time before some ******* decides that he's Jesus Christ and decides to end it for all humanity. It's sad to think that there are idiots in control of weapons that can allow that to happen. I'm convinced it will. Sooner than later. So I don't freak out over it now. I'm all done with media. DONESKI. They are all a bunch of cut-throat idiots, and all they have to tell is the bad news. So no news = good news. Knuckle

Yeah dud!!! Go to the basement dud. That's what I do when I get home from work. I do one of 3 things - work, sit in my basement, or on the rare occasion the sun is out, I ride my bike. But no news, stay away from the news....you watch it too much, you end up in the basement.

Sorry, Two Times. Mr. Cheeze meant no malice to you personally. But that former avatar was just way too big... and very, very gay. You were asking for some ball busting with that thing without some qualifying humor attached to show that it was a joke.

Mr. Cheeze does indeed approve of Curly, though.

HA HA....thanks Mr. Cheese. Yeah, the intent was to be obnoxious as I like to make a loud entrance anywhere. And you are right, it did look a bit gay (which I am not!). Can never go wrong with Curly, I swear he has a throne, right next to God.

I bet if everyone just rode bikes, there'd be no war....just a massive sea of bike porn, day in and day out. Gee...I guess that would be Heaven. ???

North Korea is being a hernia because they want money and aid, and they won't lay down until they get it. The Iranian people hate their ruler, but are afraid to rise against him.
