Concord Quarries/Hospital Trails in jeopardy.

For those of you who ride or have ridden the trails from the quarries down along the water supply to Via tranquila be aware that a pretty big logging operation has begun. This affects the area from Via down to the 'gulley'...This has made one of my favorite trails almost unrideable.

Also, the trails behind the hospital are becoming logged out as well...you can avoid most of it but I can see that developement is inevitable...

So get out and ride them while you still can...

So newbie, you was wrong and we're all happy. MTBing is alive and well and supported by the City of Concord. There are 18 trail systems endorsed by the city(with a flyer and maps). There is the recent designation of Winant Park singletrack and the Ross Farm project speaking to the consciousness here. We even have an advocacy group who has managed to get a north south bike lane in Concord.
Of course there will be logging and there will be strong backs coming in afterward and restoring trails. That's how it works mate.

Damn, an 8 year old thread gets bumped to the top....it must be a record:) I can't even remember 2003.

I agree the MTB community in/around Concord has done a superb job since I wrote that...the network that has been developed is one of the best in the state. If you recall, it was around 2002 when the development went in on Fiske Hill and I was fearing the worst....that it would be expanded across the road and into the now Winant Park area. I am so glad it didn' t and I give thanks to all who maintain, support and build the trails in the greater Concord area.
