Come on out on May 10th and help NEMBA replace the rotted boardwalk near the South Reservoir at the Middlesex Fells. If you ride the Fells you probably know the boardwalk I am talking about and it is long past time it was replaced. This is a very important project because it is the first maintenance day we have done for the North Region MDC in several years and we want to show them that we know what we are doing. This will be a real fun project so mark it on your calendars now.
When:May 10th at 8:00am-1:00pm
Rain Date:May 11th Same Time (Check www.gbnemba.org for weather cancellation)
Where:If you drive you should park at the sheepfold. There will be a NEMBA person at the kiosk. From there we will carpool or bike over to the worksite. If you know your way around you can show up directly at the worksite at 8:00am. The worksite is near the corner of Middle Road and Dam Road. Bring a lock for your bike but there will also be someone there to keep an eye on the locked bikes.
Bring:Bring a hammer and waterproof boots if you have them. Long pants and gloves are good to wear. We have plenty of tools.
Food:We will provide an excellent lunch for everybody who helps out.
Ride:After lunch feel free to join us for a ride to test out our new work. People can change in the tool trailer and I am sure we can find a leader for all abilities.
If you have never attended a maintenance day before consider coming to this one. You do not need to be skilled to help. We have plenty of people supervising the work and they can show you what you need to do. If you are handy or experienced at building things then naturally your talents will also be put to work. These events are a great way to meet people who ride. Hope to see all of you on Saturday May 10th. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
