Good idea; how about everyone sharing intelligence on trail conditions throughout CT?

I'll start:
1. Rode Case Mtn on Friday (4/18). Trails seemed in pretty good shape; only came across one muddy area, but we didn't ride all the trails. The streams are pretty deep at the water crossings, so wear your Gortex socks.

2. Penwood - trails on the ridge and the Simsbury side are ok (Yellow, etc.) . I haven't ventured to the red trail or others on the Bloomfield side, but I suspect they are wet (as usual for this time of year).

Can't help with much else; been on the road bike mostly.

Ditto on the Case and Penwood endorsements. We've ridden Case the past three weekends, the conditions have been favorable each time. I got to sample that 'secret' stunt trail for the first time on Friday. Great stuff.

I've also been riding Huckleberry in Avon quite a bit. There are a few concentrated wet areas, but you can easily put a route together that avoids those spots. If anyone's interested, I do a ride there each Thursday night at 8pm with at least one other friend. We welcome all comers.

Cockaponset State Forest in Chester is FANTASTIC!!! Me and the wife rode there this past weekend. Hardly any mud spots. I didn't even have to clean my bike after the ride.

West Hartford Rerservoir is still somewhat muddy. You can get around some of it, other mud pits are pretty unavoidable.

Rode Shenipsit this weekend. A few muddy spots, but its basically full on riding season conditions. We need riders out in Shenipsit to grind up the leaves from the fall. Many of the trails are still covered in fluffy, slippery leaves.

Time to ride...

Ok, quick Recap:

Favorable:
Shenipsit, Case, Cockaponset

Wet and Muddy:
WH Res, parts of Penwood

Sounds like we are drying up. Anyword from the Southern parts of the State?? As soon as I get some time I may take a trip to West Rock in Hamden. Then maybe over to Brooksvale. Tyler Mill, in Wallingford, will be a mud pit well into June.

But glad Case is looking good, I want to get out there a little more this year and I have yet to check out Shenipsit.

Pachuag SF and Bluff Point are dry and very rideable. Enjoy.

Well, last week's rain had made Cockaponset somewhat wet and muddy again. It's only in certain parts. The trails are still in great shape and most of the mud pits can be avoided.

We rode Case Sunday from 1-4 and it was fine. You could tell in a few places that it had recently rained, but nothing was prohibitively wet, aside from requisite stream crossings. That place seems to drain real well.

Been riding at Trumbull and Huntington. Trumbull is dry except for the usual wet spots, and Huntington is mostly dry except for a few new wet spots on the south end of the park. Haven't been anywhere else.

Case is eminently rideable. Case is great. When other places are wet, Case is good.
