Gang,
Concern is rapidly developing as a result of TM event planning activities and meetings with local DEP manager, Jon Lincoln, by CTNEMBA members, Dave Singleton (david_h_singleton@groton.pfizer.com) and Paul Bassett (paul.bassett@ctnemba.com). They have been made privy to the fact that an environment review has been conducted citing resource impact to coastal nesting area and endangered plant species is occurring. As a result the DEP is in the process of drafting a management plan for internal DEP review. We expect that a revised draft will be released for public comment and hearing sometime this spring (potentially within 30 days). While CTNEMBA does not have a copy of these reports or specific information to go on we do know that recreational trail use and specifically MTB use is being cited as a specific problem and initial recommendations call for restricting this use, minimally in the southern section of the property and potentially to a much larger restriction across the park.
To date the only public information was released today in an article appearing in a regional newspaper, The Day. It is available online at:

(apologies if this link is broken).
CTNEMBA is presently considering how to respond to this matter. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot of concrete information to work with, however we do expect to continue to investigate and monitor the situation. We do encourage all interested parties to contact Dave and Paul who will serve as principle contacts in CTNEMBA for this matter. Individuals may also consider submitting a response to The Day article expressing concern over the potential for restricted recreational use of Bluff Point State Park.
Regards,
John Turchi
