4/26/14 8:30am to 4/27/14 8:30am
North Shore NEMBA Trail Work Weekend
Saturday April 26 8:30 AM – 3 PM
Sunday April 27 8:30 AM – Noon
Beverly Commons, Greenwood Ave. Beverly MA
Location: Beverly Commons (aka Greenwood) Beverly MA. Meet at Beverly Farms end of Greenwood Ave. at Stone Ridge. Parking at the trailhead is tight. If you find no parking spots, there is plenty of on-street parking on Greenwood closer to Hart St. Please respect the neighbors, driveways, mailboxes, etc.
Greenwood has great technical riding and a remote feel for a place so surrounded by civilization. Some of the trails follow lowland routes. Prior projects have addressed some of those and bridged other problem areas.
Project: Build New Trail. This is a sizeable trail addition that will create a dry loop on the east side of the Commons where an existing trail makes an extended tour through a swamp. The terrain is rocky and wild, the route challenging both to build and to ride after completion. There is a considerable amount of tread work, so be prepared to move some stone and do some digging.
Due to the amount of work involved, we have scheduled 2 days to complete the project. It’s best to arrive for an 8:30 AM start on either or both days, but no problem coming later, particularly on Saturday, if that’s what your schedule allows. The walk in, about 15 minutes, will be marked. Given the duration of the project, we are hoping that everyone can participate at some time over the weekend.
Bring work gloves, sturdy footwear, eye protection, and pack in water/snacks. Tools will be supplied but feel free to bring your favorite rock bar, pick mattock, stone hammer, etc.
Lunch will be provided. A ride may take place in the afternoon, weather and ground conditions permitting.
Project will go on in light/moderate rain, but heavy rain may result in rescheduling.
