National
Trails Day
June
4, 2005
White Mountains NEMBA
A small crew did some fine
work on the Red Tail Trail for National Trails Day. Phil
Ostroski and Peter Minnich took the chapter’s brush
cutter and worked their way down through the clearcuts;
tough work on a hot day. Thanks guys!
The rest of us rock-armored some sections of trail that
are seasonal wet spots. There's some excellent rock to
work with in this area, and we moved some really big pieces
into place. We also bench cut a couple of off-camber sections
of the trail and cleaned and regraded a few rolling grade
dips.
Thanks also go out to Michael Hartrich, David Halpin,
Dave Karl, and Jeff Sanders for their fine efforts. Dave
Karl provided bug dope samples courtesy of Adventure Medical
Kits (which fortunately were barely needed), and Jeff
came up from Merrimack to help out. Much appreciated!
