About
RI NEMBA
In 1997 30 concerned mountain bikers met at a local shop to
discuss actions needed to keep our favorite trails in Arcadia
Management Area open. We organized and created a unified voice
for RI mountain bikers. Over time we have gained the respect
of land managers and developed relationships with many other
user groups. These positive relationships continue to keep our
favorite trails open. We attract members from all over RI and
Southeastern Connecticut.
Where we ride
Arcadia Management Area is one of the best technical riding
spots in New England. Arcadia includes great trails for all
levels of riders, but is most famous for its miles of singletrack
and rock gardens. While not a freeride mecca, Arcadia gives
the experienced rider a bounty of opportunities to sharpen skills.
Burlingame located in Charlestown is our coastal retreat for
the winter. While offering a limited amount of riding (8 mile
loop), its sandy soil and coastal location make it a suitable
place to ride year round.
Lincoln Woods is a metro park located minutes from Providence.
With its hundreds of glacial boulders it offers everything from
a paved loop to intense descents. Our relationship with Lincoln
Woods management is still evolving and our role is to support
the park by becoming more active in trial maintenance and secure
a valuable role for mountain bikers within the parks user groups.
What we do
In addition to riding, we have undertaken numerous maintenance
projects including bridges, drainage, re-routes, and boardwalks.
While most of our projects can be found in Arcadia Management
Area, we have held work days in Lincoln Woods, and taken part
in a joint effort to remove trash from the Big River Management
Area. Because all of the areas we ride are multi use we’re
very involved in the Trail Advisory Board for RI DEM and collaborate
with the AMC and other user groups to make the trails fun and
accessible for everyone.
We hold fun rides in the spring and fall, and work days throughout
the season. In 2004 we held our first North-South multi-day
ride from the Mass. State border to the coast.
Our meetings are at varied locations and are held on the first
Tuesday of the month.

Important Note about Hunting Season Regulations
Hunting Season is
every day from the second Saturday in October until the last
day of February. To ride in RI you need to wear 200" of
orange 7 days a week (there is no hunting in Lincoln Woods).
